How Modular Construction is Changing the Landscape of Social Housing in Queensland

In Queensland, our team has been working tirelessly to push the boundaries of what’s possible with modular construction. We’re not just delivering homes, we’re redefining how modular is perceived— moving away from the outdated “prefab” or “box-standard” stereotype and proving that modern modular homes can be high-quality, innovative, and sustainable.

Our involvement in the Modular Social Housing Project is an example of how prefab homes in Australia can be delivered at scale without sacrificing quality. This is evident in our ongoing partnership with Queensland Government MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) program and QBuild.

We’ve made significant progress, with 40 of the 60 homes already stood and moving through various stages of completion. Our team on the ground has been delivering precision and speed, showing that modular homes are not just a fast alternative—it’s a superior one.

Why Modular is the Future

The benefits of modular construction have long been known: faster build times, reduced waste, and lower environmental impact. But what’s often overlooked is the precision and quality control that modular methods allow. Prefab homes are no longer limited to simple designs. Every aspect of the build can be refined and perfected off-site, ensuring that when components are brought to site, the project moves quickly and seamlessly. In an industry often plagued by delays and budget blowouts, modular construction offers a smarter, more reliable way forward.

Local Support and Ground-Level Delivery

Modular isn’t just about speed—it’s about sustainability. Our vertical integration gives us an edge in delivering quality. By using sustainable, locally sourced materials from trusted partners, we ensure consistency across the entire build. For example, we use the following materials:

By sourcing these materials locally, we not only support Australia economy but also ensure that every home we build is a lasting, quality-driven solution that aligns with the highest standards of sustainability.

Our partnership with the Queensland Government and QBuild on the Modular Social Housing Project has been pivotal in showcasing the efficiency and sustainability of prefab homes in addressing the state’s housing needs. By using modular construction, we are able to control both speed and quality, ensuring that each home is durable and perfectly tailored to meet the specific needs of Queensland’s communities. The project has already seen significant progress, with the majority of homes now standing or in various stages of construction, putting us well on track to provide much-needed housing for Queenslanders.

Our recent visit with Mayor Jon Raven of Logan City Council and Councillor Miriam Stemp to our Crestmead facility further highlighted the local impact of this initiative. Being able to showcase our innovative housing solutions and how modular is addressing Queensland’s housing crisis was a proud moment for our team. With every home we complete, we’re helping Queenslanders secure safe, sustainable housing and setting the standard for how future housing projects can be delivered efficiently and responsibly.

The Future of Modular Housing in Queensland

Our partnership with QBuild and the Queensland Government’s MMC program highlights the value of collaboration and innovation in housing delivery. With prefab homes in Melbourne, prefab home in Sydney, and prefab homes in Brisbane becoming more common, it’s clear that this is not just a Queensland solution but one that can scale nationwide. Our goal is to expand this approach nationwide—providing high-quality, prefabricated homes across all Australian states.
