Four-Month Transformation: Edens Landing State School

The new classroom facilities at Queensland’s Edens Landing State School are a perfect example of the ability of Fleetwood Australia to deliver innovative modular solutions to challenging timelines.

Located in the fast-growing City of Logan, Edens Landing was in a similar situation to many schools that seek support from Fleetwood: needing additional classrooms and associated infrastructure to manage ever-increasing enrolments. The school was also tasked with maintaining a delicate balance between expanding facilities and preserving important outdoor learning and recreational spaces.

Fleetwood’s modular innovation proved critical in this project.

“With a modular building, we were able to position the sub-floor of the classrooms over the crest of the hill, using land that wouldn’t have been suitable for a conventional build and preserving that play area, which was really integral to the school.”

As a result, Edens Landing State School started 2024 with four modern classrooms equipped with additional teaching walls, enrichment and breakout spaces, and a dedicated teacher resource room. The feature cladding on the building, designed by Fleetwood, aligned with the school’s branding and enhanced the overall aesthetic.

A 121-square metre covered learning area was also included in the project. Principal Clint Curran highlighted the importance of the new facilities:

“Our vision is to engage, inspire, and empower every student. This tailored building plan will help us achieve that by maximising teaching and learning spaces.”

The modular solution provided by Fleetwood also addressed the critical requirement for the school to have the building ready for the start of the 2024 school year—with some time to spare.

“We started discussions in August and were able to hand the project over on November 27. In terms of on-site work, we were only there for nine weeks, which included landscaping.”

Completing the project within this timeframe was crucial for the school, allowing students and staff to acclimate to their new classrooms before the start of the new academic year.

“We’ve had some really good feedback from the school, both in terms of the time in which we were able to complete the work and the high quality of the facilities that Fleetwood was able to deliver.”
