Tarneit North Kindergarten
Overview
Fleetwood was contracted to deliver a design and construct solution for the Wyndham City Council as part of the municipality’s growth strategy over the coming years. The Wyndham Council required a new facility fully operational by the start of the 2018 school year to accommodate an influx of children to the area. Fleetwood delivered a fully functional modular kinder, which included open learning areas, amenities, ramps, stairs, storage rooms and staff administration facilities. In addition to the delivery and installation of the facility, Fleetwood also collaborated with the council in assuring all landscaping and outdoor play areas were completed on schedule.
Solution
The delivery of the Tarneit North Kindergarten (16 modules), a purpose built relocatable kinder designed specifically for preschool use has provided an additional 231 places for children. The building was one of the first pilot projects procured under the relocatable accommodation services program in Victoria with a focus on delivering communities with ongoing flexible solutions to child care demands over the coming years.
Benefits
The collaborative approach between all stakeholders and consultants ensured the objective of a fully functional, modern and high quality early education facility was achieved. The Wyndham City Council is now able to run multiple classes for different age groups of preschool children out of the modular facility. With a high standard fit out and bespoke fittings and fixtures for the local community to also enjoy. The flexibility of going with a modular solution has allowed the council to potentially relocate the facility in the future as the demographics of the area change, which will extend the life of the building.
